Road Hazard Warranty

It's easy to find tires on BJs.com, then take the information to the Club to place your order:

  1. BJ’s Road Hazard Limited Warranty

The Road Hazard Limited Warranty is included on all tires purchased at BJ’s on non-commercial vehicles with a wheel diameter of 24" or less. If BJ’s trained tire professionals determine the tire in question is damaged beyond repair, and that its continued use would compromise your safety, we will effect a replacement allowance under the terms and conditions herein. Road Hazard Warranties are good until any portion of the tire has worn to a depth of 2/32" or less, or for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. If the failure occurs within the first nine (9) months of service, we will replace the tire at no charge, not to exceed $200 per tire. Thereafter, this warranty is pro-rated based on the number of months the tire has been in service.

    1. What Is Covered
      1. Tires that have large punctures, slices, cuts or any other damage in excess of 1/4" in diameter that might compromise the structural integrity of the tire.
      2. A tire with a bubble in its sidewall. This is called an impact break and typically occurs when the tire has hit a pothole or other object, pinching the sidewall between the rim and the object.
    2. What Is Not Covered
      1. Irregular wear caused by misalignment, mechanical defects of the vehicle or lack of maintenance.
      2. Improper inflation, overloading or driving on the tire with little or no air pressure.
      3. Accident, fire, vandalism, or purposeful abuse.
      4. Damage from obstructions or modifications of the vehicle.
      5. Improper installation, including but not limited to mounting, balancing and the like.
      6. Ozone or weather checking.
      7. Re-capped or re-tread tires.
      8. Cosmetic damage, sidewall abrasions or other appearance items that do not affect the safety or performance of the tire.
      9. Off-road or commercial use of tires.
      10. Tires purchased before 10/29/2007*.
  2. BJ’s Limited Mileage Warranty Information

    1. What Is Warranted

Any tire(s) you purchase from BJ’s with a mileage warranty is warranted to deliver a tread life of the specified mileage under normal driving conditions and maintenance when properly installed on your vehicle.

If your tire wears evenly across the tread down to the tread-wear indicators (2/32" tread depth) before delivering the specified mileage, BJ’s will give credit toward the purchase of a comparable new tire based on the mileage unit price, upon presentation of and exchange for the worn tire. The mileage unit charge reasonably reflects the price being charged for the replacement tire. Mileage will be determined by the odometer reading of your car.

A cash refund will not be extended in lieu of the above warranty, unless BJ’s, in its sole discretion, so elects.

    2. Member’s Responsibilities
      1. Member must pay the adjusted price of the replacement tire, local taxes and all charges for mounting and balancing.
      2. Member must pay the price differential, if any, involved in replacing the worn tire with a more expensive tire of different construction, if the original construction of the worn tire is unavailable.
      3. Member must fill out and sign a standard claim form. This limited warranty is good at all BJ’s tire center locations.
    3. What Is Not Covered
      1. Mileage adjustment on vehicles on which proper inflation pressures, wheel balance and wheel alignment have not been maintained, or if the tires have not been rotated when needed as indicated by irregular tread wear pattern.
      2. Tires on cars normally operated outside of the U.S.A.
      3. Tires used for racing, or showing signs of deliberate abuse or vandalism.
      4. Tires used for off-the-road service, on campers, on trailers, or in any application not recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
      5. Claims made by anyone other than the first retail purchaser of the tire.
    4. What to Do If You Have a Complaint or Problem
      1. Bring the tire(s) in question and original receipt to any BJ’s Club location with a Tire Center.
  3. Legal Rights

No limited warranties, either of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or otherwise, are extended beyond the time when the tire has delivered its original tread life as shown by wear to one or more tread wear indicator bars.

BJ’s shall not be responsible (1) for any commercial loss, (2) for any personal injury, (3) for any damage to or loss of property other than the tire itself, or (4) to the extent permitted by law, for any other type of consequential damages.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation of exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

This warranty is not transferable and is available only to the original purchaser. In accordance with federal law, these warranties have been designed as a “limited warranty.” Nothing in these warranties is intended to be a representation by BJ’s that failures cannot occur. THESE WARRANTIES, IF APPLICABLE, ARE EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ANY AND ALL OTHER WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THERE ARE NO OTHER WARRANTIES THAT EXTEND BEYOND THE DESCRIPTION AS STATED HEREIN. TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, THESE WARRANTIES DO NOT COVER, AND THE COMPANY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES INCLUDING LOSS OF TIME, INCONVENIENCE, LOSS OF REVENUES, AND LOSS OR DAMAGE TO PERSONAL PROPERTY. No claims will be considered without proof of purchase. These warranties give you specific legal rights and you may have other rights, which vary from state to state.

  4. Important Safety Information

Any tire, no matter how well constructed, may fail due to improper maintenance or service factors, creating a risk of property damage and serious or fatal injury. For your safety, comply with the following:

    1. Check AIR PRESSURE in passenger tires at least monthly when tires are “cold” (or when car has been driven less than one mile at moderate speed). You are strongly urged to buy and use an accurate tire air pressure gauge, since automatic service station gauges my be inaccurate. Do not reduce pressure when tires are “hot.”

Proper inflation for passenger tires is recommended by the vehicle manufacturer and may be found in the vehicle owner’s manual or on a special placard mounted in the glove compartment or on the door column. Under-inflation produces extreme flexing of sidewalls and builds up heat to the point that premature tire failure may occur. Over-inflation can cause the tire to be susceptible to impact damage.
    2. Never OVERLOAD your tires. The maximum load-carrying capability and maximum allowable inflation pressure are molded into the sidewall of a tire. Overloading builds up excessive heat in the tire and leads to early failure.
    3. Avoid DAMAGING OBJECTS (e.g., chuckholes, rocks, curbs, glass, etc.) that may possibly cause internal tire damage. Continued use of a tire that has suffered internal damage (which may not be externally visible) can lead to dangerous tire failure. Determination of suspected internal damage requires dismounting the tire from its rim and examination by trained tire personnel.
    4. Property damage and serious or fatal injury can also result from the following causes:
      1. Improper tire mounting and inflation procedures may cause tire beads to break with explosive force during installation of the tire on the rim. Follow Rubber Manufacturers Association installation and safety procedures for mounting and inflating tires. Tire and rim must match in size. Rim parts must match according to manufacturer’s design. Clean rim. Lubricate rim and beads. Do not exceed the maximum recommended pressure to seat beads on rim. Use remote-control inflation equipment and inflation cage. NOTE: For hump-type safety rims, never inflate over 40 psi to seat beads. ONLY SPECIALLY TRAINED PERSONS SHOULD MOUNT TIRES. Mount radial-ply truck tires only on rims designed by wheel manufacturer as suitable for radial tires.
      2. Improper mixing of tires may seriously affect vehicle handling characteristics. Consult vehicle owner’s manual or tire dealer for the proper tire replacement.
      3. Use of worn-out tires (less than 2/32" remaining tread depth) increases the probability of tire failure.
      4. Excessive wheel spinning when freeing a vehicle from sand, mud, snow, gravel, ice, or wet surfaces can result in explosive tire disintegration or vehicle differential failure. When attempting to free your car from such hazards, do not exceed 35 mph as indicated on the speedometer.
      5. Using repaired or retreaded speed-rated tires above highway speeds.
      6. Original-equipment speed-rated tires must be replaced with tires of the same or higher speed rating if the speed capability of the vehicle is to be maintained.
